Author ScarletScarlet, May 12th, 2023

The film version of the hit Broadway musical Wicked will premiere in theatres November, 2024.

Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo have given fans a glimpse into the upcoming highly-anticipated screen-version of Wicked in dual instagram posts, where they star as Glinda and Elphaba. With film director Jon M. Chu tweeting "I've already been changed for good by these two women... #CynthiaErivo & #ArianaGrande as the Witches of Oz. They will lift ur spirits, break ur heart and leave you speechless with their voices. So excited to introduce you into our world... SO much more to come..."

The screen adaptation will also include West End and Bridgerton star Jonathan Bailey as Fiyero, SpongeBob SquarePants star Ethan Slater as Boq, Oscar winner Michaelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible and Jeff Goldblum as The Wizard. The adaptation will also feature new songs by Stephen Schwartz!

Wicked will be split into two parts, with the first premiering November 27, 2024 and the second December 25, 2025. We wonder what cliff hanger we'll have to sit on for just over a year...

WHAT IS WICKED ABOUT?

Thrown together as unwilling roommates at The University of Shiz, initially the beautiful, blonde, and effervescent Glinda clashes with the fiery, misunderstood, green-skinned Elphaba. Facing various challenges in their experiences, they learn to put their differences aside and form an unexpected bond that stays with them for years to come, despite the political and magical upheaval that engulfs Oz. What makes someone truly "Wicked?" An uplifting and affirming adventure that journeys way below the skin and the heart of life.
